ANITEPAM appoints new Corresponding Secretary

The Chair of the ANITEPAM Governing Council, The Very Revd Victor Atta-Baffoe, has announced that the Revd Martin Mgeni, a theological educator from Malawi, has been appointed  Corresponding Secretary with effect from 1 May 2007.

Fr Martin currently teaches at Leanard Kamungu Theological College, Zomba. He recently retired from service in the Anglican Diocese of Upper Shire.

He holds a Diploma in Theology from the Zomba Theological College (1990), a BTh degree from Chancellor College, University of Malawi (1996), and an MTS from Virginia Theological Seminary in the United States, where his thesis focused on the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Malawi and the role of the church.

More recently Fr Martin has engaged in a research doctoral programme in Christian social ethics with the Department of Theology and Religious Studies, University of Malawi.

He has taken up his new responsibilities with ANITEPAM, following a brief visit to South Africa to liaise with his predecessor, Mike McCoy, in late June. Martin can be contacted via the usual e-mail @ddress, secretary@anitepam.org.

Former Corresponding Secretaries

The first two Corresponding Secretaries—The Revd Dr Leon P. Spencer (1993-1998) and Canon Fareth Sendegeya (1998-2003)—were full time members of staff on their respective theological colleges when they were appointed, and served ANITEPAM half-time during their terms.

The third Corresponding Secretary, The Revd Mike McCoy (2003-2006) was a diocesan coordinator of theological education at the time of his appointment in 2003. In 2004 he left diocesan employ to serve the TEE College of Southern Africa part-time alongside ANITEPAM. He resigned from ANITEPAM and TEE College at the end of 2006 in order to return to parish ministry.
