Projects supported by ANITEPAM
Books for Africa!
For some years now, ANITEPAM has tried to do
something positive about the state of TE libraries in Africa. Thanks to
a generous grant from the Church Missions Publishing Company in the USA,
ANITEPAM has sent packages of books to the libraries of selected
theological colleges.
Here is how it worked. In 2002,
ANITEPAM’s Governing Council identified ten seminaries or colleges
around Africa that, in their view, most urgently needed these resources.
These institutions were invited to
choose a collection from two possible sets: either eight essential books
on Anglicanism, or ten books from the African Christianity series
published by Professor Jesse Mugambi and
Acton
Publishers in Kenya.
Eight of the ten institutions
responded and were sent their book packages.
Some good news!
We still have some of the original funds
available to us. So we can now offer more African TE institutions the
chance to apply for a collection of books.
This time we have
three
lists from which to choose. As before, we offer a set of eight books on
Anglicanism, or ten titles from the Acton “African Christianity” series.
The new option is a selection of Acton titles
from four of their series that cover women’s issues, the bible in
Africa, reconstruction, and theology in Africa. (The titles in each set
are given below.)
The next step
Contact the
Corresponding Secretary. Say which of the three book collections
your library needs — Anglicanism, or African Christianity, or Themes in
African Theology — and give us a postal address
and
a physical (street) address in case a courier service is used.
Our Governing Council will then
review the applications and decide who should receive the books.
Please note that the donation covers the cost of
the books and shipping them to your institution. It does
not
include any customs or import duties your country may impose.
Your institution must be in a position to cover
any such costs. So we encourage you, before you apply, to check whether
any such duties might be levied. And, if
there are particular ways for us to describe the shipment on a customs
declaration form that will help you avoid duties, please let us know.
Decisions, decisions...
